Dr. Khalid Al Sulaiman

Dr. Khalid A. Alsulaiman is a consultant clinical pharmacist specializing in critical care and an assistant professor of pharmacy practice at King Saud bin Abdulaziz University for Health Sciences (KSAU-HS). He is also a Clinical Associate Professor of pharmacy practice at Princess Nourah University. Currently, Dr. Alsulaiman serves as the program director for the critical care pharmacy residency at King Abdulaziz Medical City in Riyadh.  In addition, he holds the position of Vice Chairman of Clinical Trial Management at the King Abdullah International Medical Research Center (KAIMRC). He is the founder of the Saudi Critical Care Pharmacy Research (SCAPE) Platform and is a key founder, Chairman of the Board of Directors, and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Saudi Society of Multidisciplinary Research Development and Education (SCAPE Society). Furthermore, he is the Editor-in-Chief of The SCAPE Journal for Multidisciplinary Research.

 

 

Dr. Alsulaiman earned his bachelor’s degree in pharmaceutical sciences from King Saud University (KSU) in 2011. He then pursued postgraduate studies at King Abdulaziz Medical City, completing his first year of residency (PGY-1) in 2013 and his second year (PGY-2) in critical care in 2016. He is now a board-certified critical care pharmacist, recognized by both American and Saudi councils. In 2018, he obtained American board certification in nutritional support and became a board-certified nutritional support pharmacist. To further his education, Dr. Alsulaiman acquired a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree from a Swiss Business School in 2021. In 2022, he was designated a fellow of the American College of Critical Care Medicine (FCCM). He also graduated from the Global Clinical Scholars Research Training (GCSRT) Program at Harvard Medical School in 2023. Currently, he is enrolled in a fellowship focused on Artificial Intelligence Implementation for Education and Scientific Research, which he is expected to complete by the end of 2025.

 

Dr. Alsulaiman is deeply passionate about his career and is committed to ongoing professional development to provide the best care for his patients. His assertive nature, along with his personal and professional attitudes, makes him a competent, effective, and respectful clinican and researcher. He is the primary author of several books and has developed research interests focused on critically ill patients, all while maintaining a full-time critical care practice.  Dr. Alsulaiman is actively involved in research and has published over 120 articles in peer-reviewed journals. Additionally, he has served as a peer reviewer for numerous high-impact journals and has reviewed several editions of the book titled “Critical Care Prep Course,” published by the American College of Clinical Pharmacy (ACCP). Recently, he was nominated and inducted into SIGMA XI, one of the oldest and most prestigious scientific research honor societies.

 

Dr. Alsulaiman’s visionary leadership extends beyond research into a crucial role in shaping the future of research and innovation. He is the founder of the Saudi Critical Care Pharmacy Research (SCAPE) platform, which is the first pharmacist-led, multidisciplinary collaborative research model in the region. The vision of the SCAPE platform is to strengthen a collaborative research culture by actively building networks, mentoring, empowering researchers, and facilitating the exchange of ideas among Saudi Arabian and international scholars. This successful model ultimately led to the establishment of the Saudi Society for Multidisciplinary Research Development and Education (SCAPE Society), which he played a significant role as a key founder. The SCAPE Society aims to make a substantial impact on innovation, research, education, and policy advocacy at both national and regional levels. It emphasizes innovation, sustainability, and collaboration across various sectors, striving to break boundaries and extend its influence both within the region and beyond.
